Whilst running has the advantage of being something you can do (almost) anywhere, running by the water’s edge is still a unique experience. Often synonymous with stunning scenery, seafronts also offer a whole world of sounds and smells that invite you to escape. From the sound of the waves and the cries of seagulls to the scent of sea salt and seaweed, a complete change of scenery is guaranteed. We’ve put together a list of our favourite seaside routes for you, from Italy to Iceland via New Zealand. Get your trainers on!
Ajaccio

With coastlines along the Atlantic, the English Channel and the Mediterranean, France has something to delight all lovers of seaside running. And whilst each has its own charms and advantages, Corsica has some undeniable highlights. Renowned for its magnificent beaches, crystal-clear waters and picturesque landscapes, Ajaccio is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to run by the water’s edge. Brighton

A popular seaside resort in the south of England, Brighton is the perfect place to get a breath of fresh sea air. With over 15 kilometres of coastal paths, the city offers plenty of walks beneath the white cliffs, with views of the English Channel. With our ‘London by the Sea’ itinerary, explore Brighton from east to west and discover its heritage. On the itinerary: the Lanes and Kemptown neighbourhoods, the Brighton Dome, the Royal Pavilion and, of course, the seafront.
Wellington

Often regarded as one of the best cities to live in, Wellington is a true paradise for runners. With its superb waterside trails, large parks and nearby hills, New Zealand’s vibrant capital lives up to its reputation. For the more adventurous, a route follows the seafront around several bays for nearly 30 km. Miami

A multicultural city and tropical paradise, Miami is a dream destination with far more to offer than you might imagine: Art Deco architecture, street art, nature… the ‘magical city’ is brimming with treasures.
