Whether you've decided to train for a trail run or simply want to push yourself, JOOKS is here to help. If you're not the type to shy away from a challenge, we've put together a list of our routes with the most elevation gain. From Canada to Algeria via Greece and South Africa, get ready to sweat!
Hong Kong

With its unrivalled density, Hong Kong combines frenetic urbanism with nearby nature. Our ‘Hong Kong Island’ route will take you to the top of Victoria Peak, which rises to over 500 metres and offers panoramic views of the skyscrapers and harbour, stretching as far as the hills of the New Territories. You will also pass through the city centre to discover some remarkable parks and places, such as Man Mo Temple. All this with a climb of over 1,300 metres. Watch out for your calves!

Lisbon

The Portuguese capital, located at the mouth of the Tagus River, is built on seven hills. While this gives it undeniable charm, walking around is no easy feat. With our route ‘From Bairro Alto to Alfama’, you will pass through working-class neighbourhoods with an authentic atmosphere, where Lisbon's identity will gradually reveal itself. From the narrow, steep streets of Alfama to the colourful streets of Barrio Alto, each stage of the tour offers splendid views.

San Francisco

Like Lisbon, San Francisco is built on hills. Forty of them, to be precise. So it's no surprise that the city is full of steep, uphill, downhill, narrow, wide and even zigzagging streets. Let our ‘City by the Bay’ route guide you through these unusual streets. Cross the eclectic Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood with its rows of colourful Victorian houses, make your way to the heart of Chinatown and enjoy beautiful views of the city. But watch out for the slopes!

Marseille

Founded 2,600 years ago by the Greeks, Marseille is one of the oldest cities in France. So it's only natural that it should be home to so many treasures! Covering just 15 kilometres, our route ‘The Greek City’ invites you to travel back in time thanks to iconic monuments such as the Palais Longchamp and La Major. But be warned, Marseille is a city of ups and downs, depending on the neighbourhood. The magnificent view of the port from Notre-Dame de la Garde has to be earned!

Vancouver

Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, Vancouver is full of stunning buildings and breathtaking scenery. Although the city is less well known than Montreal or Toronto, it is nonetheless one of the most liveable cities in the world. Its magnificent views and landscapes will be revealed to you on our ‘Vancouver from one end to the other’ route. As you stroll through the city streets and along English Bay and False Creek, you are sure to fall in love with this Canadian city.

Athens

The cradle of democracy, Athens is often just a stopover on the way to the Greek islands or the Peloponnese. However, with its fascinating museums, lively neighbourhoods and numerous bars and restaurants, the city of Athena is well worth a visit. Follow our route ‘Ancient City, Modern City’ and climb up to admire the city from its hills! From antiquity to the 21st century, it's just a short step. Here you will learn about the history of the Pnyx, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Kapnikarea Church and the chic Kolonaki district.

Algiers

Comprising low-lying districts and neighbourhoods located on the heights of the city, Algiers is ideal for those seeking a challenge. Put on your most comfortable trainers for a long walk through the centre of Algiers with our route ‘Discovery of the White City’. As you wander through a maze of narrow streets, marvel at the Algerian capital and its most beautiful treasures. From the Casbah to the Bardo National Museum, via the bustling shopping street of Didouche Mourad, the city will hold no more secrets for you!

Cinque Terre

Built on the cliffs of steep hills overlooking the Mediterranean, the Cinque Terre is a true enclave of beauty. Ideal for disconnecting from everyday life, our route ‘The Religious Manarola’ will guide you through the picturesque streets of the village and along the rocky paths of the surrounding area. Between spirituality and breathtaking views, you can learn more about the Church of San Lorenzo and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Soviore.

Cape Town

A diverse and contrasting city, Cape Town is located at the crossroads of continents, facing both America and Asia and with an undeniable European influence. The southernmost city on the African continent is also a city of contrasts, nestled at the foot of Signal Hill and Table Mountain and lapped by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Our charming route ‘The Mother City’ will take you to see the Cape Town's must-see sights and magnificent landscapes, such as the Green Point Lighthouse and the Cape Town Ferris Wheel.
