London
London, founded by the Romans almost 2000 years ago, is now one of the world's most important cities. The city is home to many world heritage sites, so a trip there will take you to the Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge and Big Ben.
Situated near the Thames Estuary, London is a gigantic world city, due to its cultural, economic and political influence. Abandoned in the 5th century by the Romans, the ancient city, because of its strategic position, was rehabilitated in the 9th century by the Anglo-Saxons. As you run through the city, more than a thousand years of history will reveal themselves to you. Indeed, some of its most beautiful monuments date from the 11th century. London was regularly besieged by the Vikings, who ruled there for several decades, and was then taken over by a Saxon king. He had the Abbey and Palace of Westminster built. From then on, London became the largest and most prosperous city in England. Walking through the streets of the city will also take you to the London Eye, the Ferris wheel set up for the Y2K festivities. And at the foot of the gigantic skyscrapers that are now part of the City, housing the administrative and financial authorities. Including the famous "gherkin"!
